From 1982 to 2000, the ACT Overall Championships were a combination of all track, series, and special-event points earned during a season.  The Flying Tiger (now Tiger Sportsman) division was the headline class from 1982-1991, with the new Late Models taking over in 1992.  Steve Miller had no trouble with the transition, as he put together four consecutive titles from 1990-93.

The Flying Tiger title was known as the Vermont State Championship from 1982-1989, as events were held at Thunder Road (in Barre, VT) and Catamount Stadium (in Milton, VT) to determine the title winner from 1982-87.  Thunder Road was the only track in the ACT system in 1988-89, although two events each season at Québec's Sanair Super Speedway counted toward the title during those years.  Following the acquisition of Airborne Int'l Raceway in Plattsburgh, NY in 1990, the title became known as the ACT Flying Tiger Championship.

Over time, the ACT Late Model Overall Championship included weekly events at Airborne and Thunder Road, the Tri-State Triple Crown Series, the Am/Can Late Model Series, the Twin 50 Series, and what is now known as the ACT Late Model Tour.  The ACT Flying Tiger Overall Championship included weekly events at Airborne, Catamount, and Thunder Road, the Tri-State Triple Crown Series, the Twin 50 Series, what came to be known as the Tiger Sportsman Series, and special events at various tracks.
